Ah dragons! Strong! Deadly! Smelling good to anyone who knows what's good for them!!!

We have a deal on the NAP, terms above, but we have flight already on wings of imagination and illusion and ethereal whatnot. Don't have the actions, either. Thanks, and best wishes with your peaceful reign.

HA - RD  Distaste?  No!  Not at all!  Dragons are quite tasty, but, rather an acquired taste.  You kind of have to hold your nose while you eat them.  You stinky dragons, and all kingdoms, are most welcome to visit the shire...  we, of course, have not hesitated to visit your wonderful kingdom.  Just last month, I think, ole "five finger discount" Harry Moonbeams visited Imril.

You know, now that I think about it, Harry DID seem to have more luggage on the way back than he did on the way up...   Ho Ho, oh well, you know Ole five finger Harry.  Think I remember him saying something about taking the family up for the weekend again...

On a completely unrelated note, will your visiting group be carrying any nice trinkets?

Yes, the gods blew out my market on bounty spells. But Demonic Visions? Famine? Also available to the  connoisseuring ruler...

Ah, sorcery - a power that lingers from another time. Such arcana is known by our seers, who can provide similar enchantments for those that serve the banner of life!

As for this matter of recovering lost lore: some of our wizards may venture abroad to recover the Gem of Planes. It seems this was taken from our realm during our brief exodus to the West. Now that we've returned - our king has charged that it be returned for our safe-keeping.

Other arrangements might be made, of course.

(OOC - what IS the Gem of Planes? I got this key - which sounds neat - that is needed to access the encounter where it can be found?)

First of all, Loren, the "late" diplomacy refers to the "month" of each "season".  If you read from the top of your turn result it will say "early" spring "mid-spring" or "late" spring, for instance... it is on the turn results that say "late" that we are allowed to fully wheel and deal.  The turn results are basically after turn 1,4,7,10,13... and such.

But you are free to deal at any time.

AHEM, with regard to this "relic" you found, its probably nothing, a trinket really, but being the kind a generous souls we halflings are, we'd be happy to take it off your hands, for say 100,000 gold?

A steal really, much more than its worth.  But if you decide you want to keep it as a wall decoration or something, you should transfer it to a PC that is first of all, secure, and second of all has a high food production, as the plow will double the food production at that PC. (used to be triple, but got smacked with the nerf bat.)

You can use the wizard spell called "fertile fields" to increase the food production of any PC and the 600 order as well, the plow will double your efforts there, so its like having double the wizards casting fertile fields that you are using.  With the bounty spell similarly crippled, the plow and fertile fields is a good way to make a lot of food... AHEM, well, some food, not a ton... you would be better off selling it (but not as well off as us).

If you have extra food and would like to sell, since you are new, YOU can contact me every turn, we do not need to set up a standing trade agreement to trade through the "non-talking" turns.

As indicated, we will buy up to 100,000 food for 50,000 gold per turn, per player.  We wont waste an order on a purchase which is less than 50,000 food for 25000 gold.

Glad to see so many new players!!!

Kind of you to share the workings of current realm politics. This is a diverse land, and we don't wish our antiquated ways to alienate others that place in the natural order of the land. (OOC - Late diplomacy - got it, thank you!)

Your offer of trade rings true. We have a need for our food to complete a project in construction but will happily enter a long-term trade arrangement soon.

EL > HA/RD

This enchanted plow seems better-suited for one of your folk. Ours is a seafaring race from a distant shore. Let us work something out - openly, of course - once our priests have finished with it. I understand they are communing with The West for guidance about how best to move forward (OOC, ESO - I can make a trade in 1 turn provided my ESO claim works?)

EL > RD

An exchange of our guests sounds reasonable. I'll work out the details via email or PM - I have some new player questions here.

HA - EL  The gem of the plains allows a low level wizard (not sure how low) to teleport a group (not sure how big a group) anywhere in Alamaze.  Its very good for non-wizard kingdoms, and would fetch a high price.  Elves don't really need it, since they get teleport army group at 7 (I think).  But... it would free up a high level wizard if you did have it.  When you acquire the key from the wild, the description should give the short name of the gem, you have to "divine location of a named artifact" high priestess order, using that number listed in your battle report.  If you acquired the key by means other than from the wild, I am not sure if you automatically gain the short name or not... if not, you just have to find the quest encounter yourself, I think.

We would be happy to discuss any and all trades at your convenience, this turn, next turn, whenever!

Gem of Planes is an amazing artifact allowing your armies to teleport without using a wizard action (and requiring a relatatively low wizard to activate. As the EL, you got this). As far as "trinkets" go, probably more valuable than the plow (nerfed.) Maybe not. You have the key but that's only half the way, and there's only a 50% chance of that.

You all seem decent fellows. I hate to kill you,

HA - EL  Greetings Mr. Elf on this non-diplomacy turn.  We just wanted to remind you that a possible trade is on the table.  Since, for us, this is a non-diplomacy turn, we'll leave it at that.  And rest assured, if the Elves need to deal with the stinky Dragons instead of us, there will be no hard feelings, we can just steal it later.  Errr, what I mean is, we can just congratulate them on their purchase!!!

We would never EVER harm anyone for a mere artifact.  If, for instance, our archeologists were to run into other groups of adventurers, however superior our forces might be, we would never attack, we figure, hey, whoever makes the find first, makes the find first, there's no reason to fight about it.

I think we can all get along and overlook our minor differences!  Differences, ha, not even differences really, characteristics one might say!

Just as a random example, five finger Harry came back from a visit to Sirroco this month, and, well, you know Harry, his bags were jam packed with stuff that some people might argue, well, didn't belong to him.  But you see, Harry just has a unique understanding of personal property rights, a characteristic of his!

So, we know the stinky Dragons won't be upset.  Whether Harry leaves town with items that "belong" to someone else, or our archeologists dig around on "Dragon Property"  They don't mind!!  Dragons may be stinky, but they are good people too.

EL - HA My halfling friend, I'm holding off trading that artifact at this time. I was advised by a friend (OOC: a friendly voice from this community that is not in this game) that I should retain our plow and work with you to establish regular trade. We're just shoring up our castle walls (those Dwarven engineers eat like an army of halflings!!), after which we shall look to enter a trade partnership if you're still interested.

As for this notion of property: I've observed that artifacts have a way of finding those that need them most. We have other trinkets. Which do you seek?

HA - EL  Greetings dear friend Mr. Elf, and thank you for reaching out this wonderful season.  I suspect the fertile fields of the shire will blossom just fine without your blessed plow, use it well!  As for what other trinkets halflings might be interested in, it is hard to say.  I suspect any artifact we may be interested in, the elves may want to keep.

Some of our more, shall we say, superstitious adventurers, enjoy carrying trinkets that protect them from the foul deeds of others, rings, talismans and such.  Other adventurers like to gaze into the crystals balls that let them see far off places.  Some of our adventurers enjoy visiting very distant lands, so mounts that can carry them great distances quickly are of interest.  But for these minor trinkets, its a little difficult to get our more adventurous types to, um... pay.  They don't really understand the concept.  So, if the shire were to foot the bill for these rapscallions, it would be for substantially less than we previously discussed for the plow.  You may just want to keep them yourself.

However, we entertain any offer, and are always buying and selling food, so keep in touch!!

Greetings to our furry footed brethren. We of the Great White North would like to make a deal to purchase some beer and back bacon for the next 3 months. What would 30,000 food a month run me, eh?
