AMORICIA
A Discovered World in The Choosing
First discovered by far-ranging Pirates and The Atlantians sailing the Morning Sea, Amoricia is a bountiful new world with treasures and natural splendor.  There also are many native peoples, strange to the races of Alamaze in the era of The Choosing.  Soon word of this discovery spread and each kingdom sent explorers and settlers in quest to claim a piece of Amoricia for their nation.  Eight kingdoms were first to establish region-sized lands and hoped to settle those peacefully.  For a generation, roots of their cultures were established in harmony with their rivals and the native tribes.  Once the wealth of Amoricia became known to the rulers of Alamaze however, the inevitable border disputes and plans for conquest and ultimate dominion over this world began.  That time is now.  Muster your warriors, gather your nobles and summon your wizards.  Secure Amoricia for your people and be remembered through the eons as the Conqueror of Amoricia!

·        Discover the new world of Amoricia;
·        Play any kingdom in any region;
·        Eight regions and five territories, each with different properties and different native people;
·        New concept of Strategic Points that provide significant movement, combat and economic benefits and must be gained and held militarily and will draw group vs. group battles throughout the campaign;
·        Seven and eight kingdom campaigns in Steel, also Confederations and Epic formats;
·        Redesigned and simplified transfer system;
·        Attractive new HTML5 turn results and the terrific new auto-updating map;
·        Win by Rex or Usurper or by the new Unity Victory of uniting the native peoples;
·        Battles between well-matched forces will last longer with a few changes to battle resolution;
·        New Valhalla exclusively for Amoricia.  Play with a new persona if you choose in Amoricia and carry this persona to The Choosing, Maelstrom and other scenarios.
·        New Amoricia map by renowned cartographer Ralf Schemmann.

We'll start here with  general discussion on Amoricia.

What do you think about the premise and the initial bullet points?  Then add what you like to have a discussion.

What are the differences between regions and territories?

This sounds very interesting.  When playing any kingdom in any region do you pick the kingdom or regions first, or both together.  Would you have to have a draft order to avoid multiple players picking the same thing?

We'll put the map up here in a few days, but we can discuss other aspects.

Draft: Yes, there is a two round snake draft to pick either kingdom or capital region in round one and the other among those still available in round 2.

The map is smaller than the Resurgent or Maelstrom maps.  Those are 676 areas, Amoricia is proportionately smaller to accommodate 7 or 8 player games on a map with 475 areas.  In a 7 player game, the central region is unoccupied at the outset.  Territories are about half the size of regions with about half the PC's and no kingdom starts with any controlled PC's in a territory.

There is a new PC type called berg.  A berg is like a minor city - halfway between the size of a town and a city, and are randomly placed like villages and towns, one per territory and two in the one central region that does not start with a major city.  The other 7 regions do not have bergs.

Each region provides a specific advantage to its controller and sometimes to the kingdom whose capital begins there.

The first to gain control of a region or territory gains characters and a brigade from the native people of that region or territory.

How far away from start up is Amoricia?  How is Maelstrom coming and when are we likely to see that start up?

Mike got the majority of the design a few days ago.  I still have some loose ends like some names and values and editing, the main thing is completing the design of a new transfer system that Mike will also co-design and he'll be leading in the new look of results as you've seen pieces of in the High Council, Declarations section and others.

I don't want to make any promises on Maelstrom, I'm eager to get Amoricia unleashed and hope players enjoy competing on a new map with its associated new nuances and creating new strategies that incorporate the new concepts that Amoricia brings.

Honestly I’m more excited for Amoricia than I am for Maelstrom. I like my changes in small bite sizes.
