assassination and executions
#1
Has there ever been any consideration of awarding status points for killing emissaries? It seems that the current programs only award points for captured emissaries and agents that you keep alive as prisoners.  You get these points every 6 turns but if you have killed them you get zero.  I suggest that assassinated or executed emissaries and agents also generate status points. Perhaps not as much, but certainly something for your effort.
I can see keeping prisoners  alive if you have a hidden capitol but if you don't, a locate character spell will reveal your capitol through your prisoner.
Some discussion on this would be welcome.

Agree with assassination but not with execution

I'd like to see some status points awarded for specific actions. Winning a major battle... assassinating someone. Just a one-time point bonus.

I think the whole point of getting points is because they are hard to keep alive. And it's possible they can be recovered by the other side. Anybody can stick a knife in somebody. Yes, somebody can find your capital but that's a risk you take.

It's another incentive to have a hidden capitol then, less risk in taking prisoners.

Actually might not be good for a hidden capital as a locate character would reveal the location.

In Maelstrom the prisoners do not have to be at the capital and a PC Improvement is Dungeons.  Also, Escape is harder and Rescue more important, and the prohibition on executing prisoners that are not declared enemies unless the kingdom has the Killers trait.  Assassinating is only done with Fanatics unless the kingdom is Killers.

Status points generally are something measured at the end of status point turns - a point in time - not accumulated in mid-turn.

According to UM corner: Locate character/group spell will fail if the target is located in a hidden pc

Was that wrong?

This is an interesting discussion.  I'm often torn between keeping prisoners alive  for the points and having the risk that they will get free and bother you again, or killing them outright which I am more likely to do with a declared enemy.  We are all looking forward to Maelstrom and the changes it will bring.
