Yes that 888 on NK should have been a standing order.  Oversight on my part.

I have been asked to post the first group to group combat.

It appears the Giant had zero wish to engage on with the Red Dragon.

Battle between the 1st Red Dragon army group and the 1st Giant full division in the plains
of area IN:

Red Dragon Giant

Commanders
Marshal Firnok General Tirikia
General Gor Captain II Ikavan
General Mahnivor Captain Isabar
Wizards
Adept Yojditar Power-1 Indikan
Adept Nerafana
Brigades
5 Kingdom 3 Kingdom
6 Wyverns 2 Ogres
Infantry
36 Red Talons 975 Giant Clubs
475 Brown Talons 2,000 Ogre Clubs
1,400 Ogre Heavy Clubs
200 Ogre Guard Clubs
Cavalry
44 Red Wing
59 Brown Wing
Missiles
20 Fire Breath 225 Giant Hurlers
59 Steam Breath
Combat Factors
Superior Leaders Exceptional Leaders
Tactical Selection
Determined Attack Organized Withdrawal

As the attack commenced, the innate, radiating power of the dragon's force weakened the
knees within their intended targets. The effect of this overbearance was to lower their
opponent's morale and fighting ability during the engagement. Late in the afternoon, the
1st Red Dragon army group rushed to attack the defensive position of the 1st Giant full
division led by General Tirikia. Among the Red Dragon troops were brigades of Wyverns,
which now leaped ahead to the first ranks! Among the Giant troops were brigades of Ogres,
which now raced to the front lines! As the most important group of their people, the
fighters are visibly bolstered by the presence of the first Red Dragon's banner! As the
most important group of their people, the fighters are noticeably emboldened by being
under the first Giant's colors! As the attackers swept down from the darkening sky to just
above the rolling plains, the first missles sang out.

- Archers -

The Red Dragon intense fiery breath and the boulder hurling troops of the Giant force
initiated their attack. The Red Dragon lines inflicted significant losses upon the Giant
forces in response, the Giant caused light losses against the enemy.

- Magic -

Red Dragon conjurers dismounted scarcely beyond the range of defending bowmen and began an
animated spell. The Red Dragon Yojditar (Adept) was not a factor in the battle. Giant
conjurers dismounted just past where the defensive missles were falling and began an
incomprehensible spell. Power-1 wizard Indikan began sorcerous incantations in an unknown
tongue which caused his image to disappear from the battlefield! The Giant Nerafana
(Adept) was not a factor in the battle. Mages were not a significant factor in the battle.

- Cavalry -

The Red Dragon force enjoyed a significant advantage in the early going, greatly
pressuring their foe. Now Marshal Firnok beckoned the Red Dragon death-bringing winged
attack down upon the hired horsemen of the Giant. The Red Dragon lines inflicted noticable
damage upon the Giant ranks while the Giant caused negligible damage against the enemy.

- Conclusion -

With higher than expected losses, General Tirikia had no choice but to order the Giant
force to withdraw. The Giant leaders did a remarkable job in exiting the field with
minimal additional casualties. Red Dragon casualties were put at 2%. All Red Dragon
leaders survived the battle. All the Red Dragon wizards survived the fray. The troops are
anxious for more victories: morale is up! Giant casualties were put at 30%. Tragically,
the Giant General Tirikia perished. Ikavan has shown great valor and has earned a
promotion to General. All the Giant wizards survived the fray. The toll of battle has
reduced the group's morale.

It is not looking good for the home team.

The team of WI, GI, DE, AN, BL owns exactly one region at the end of turn 5.
The team of EL, DA, RD, GN, RA owns five regions at the end of turn 5.

The EL team also bought the 5th High Council seat for 64,195 to seal a majority of the Council.

The only large battle thus far went in favor of the RD over the GI.

At this point, all indicators point to the EL team as favorites. But I have never really been a big believer in indicators....

Glad to see you guys are not discouraged. Looking at Valhalla it shows the average Titans game ends on turn 7. Generally not because someone actually gets victory but the other sees the lead is to great.

Some behind the seen battles
GN was able to take control of R7 even though the AN has been using 2 councils to denigrate for the last 4 turns.
No issue has passed on the HC by either team
EL had a timeshare at Avalon and forgot to trade in his week to visit viperhead on T1. Likely though the EL showing up at Avalon helped sell the move allowing the RD to swoop in and take the city and the GI prince.
We have our first large BL group siting in R9

JF missed the part where the sneaky WI moved a high level wizard into Amberland to punish his archenemy the GI. The GI was smart enough to foresee this trap and move into region 2 and begin his assault. Well played Dove.

Hmm perhaps this infighting between the WI and GI is the reason the good guys are currently behind.

The DE also laid a trap for the RA to start the game, was sneaky but failed in its attempt as the RA didn't fall for the same turn denigrations.

Team Unknown hungers for more success.

Just out of curiosity, what is the highest recorded bid for the HC ever in any Alamaze game?

It is well over 100,000. Think about a late stage game, like in the late turn 30's, where some folks have 1,000,000 gold or more and no way to spend it, and suddenly a chair opens up because of a curse or an elimination or a vote-out. I am pretty sure I spent over 100,000 once as a way to raise influence late no matter what the cost when gold is aplenty.

sounds like the point in the game where the DW has P8s roaming around

For the record I would say it is highly unlikely that this game turns around for our team.

If you guys want to play this to turn 40 you'll have to skip a couple of turns and let us capture our home regions.

I doubt that is the case but just wanted to throw out the suggestion if you are looking for a long and developed game.

And yes this is a serious suggestion not an attempt at humor. After a couple of turns you would still have the advantage of controlling the HC plus the extra production from your regions.
