The 27 Club of Musicians - The Gray Mouser - 02-08-2020 So, I sometimes reflect on this subject of suicides of possible musical genius, sometimes doubtless an accident or misfortune. https://www.history.com/news/music-legends-who-lived-fast-and-died-at-27-slideshow There are actually many more than on that link, including some just before 27, just after 27, or after that piece was written. It is a bit galling, the suicides. Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Jimi Hendrix, and of course the accidents, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Lynryd Skynerd, Randy Rhodes, Odis Redding, and those on motorcycles, notably Duane Alman, but also many others injured and nearly killed, like Billy Idol. I get pissed at some of the suicides, including those outside of music, like Robin Williams and Philip Seymour Hoffman. There was a scene where a character, knowing he is about to be executed, says, "We always think we have more time". Make it count. |
